Mindful Monday 4/21: God’s Daily Surprises

God Surprises Us with Little Things too

Mindful Monday for Calvary Couponers April 21

This week’s Mindful Monday post is about God’s Daily Surprises.  It could also be titled, God in the Small Things.

Every day God shows Himself to us in many ways that often go unnoticed.  If we learn to take notice of the things that happen around us, big and small, we can see God in so many places in our lives!

You never know where He is going to pop up next 🙂 There is so much anxiety and depression in our world, but there is goodness if you know where to look for it.

Isn’t it a surprise that the God Who created this entire universe is interested in the smallest part of our lives?

Matthew 10:29-31 says: “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

God knows how many hairs are on each of our heads! Wow! If He knows that, surely we can trust that He knows everything that happens in our lives -everything that affects us in any way, and none of it takes Him by surprise.  A Godly man I’ve come to know as a pastor figure in my life once told me something that has stuck with me:  “Nothing happens in the life of a Christian that hasn’t first been sifted through the hands of the Father and allowed to pass through for a reason that’s for our good.”  Things may seen painful at the time, but God has allowed it for a reason.  We can trust Him.

Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

God cause some things to work together for good?  No, it says ALL things.

To those who have heard of God?  No, it says, “to those who love God“.  If you have committed your life to the creator of the universe and have received the redemption we all need only through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, you can have full assurance that God causes ALL things in your life to work together for good.  The surprises, the big things, and even the little things.

Max Lucado has a great devotional about surprise, and as he is one of my favorite Christian authors, I’d like to share the link to his devotion with you all.  Go here to read that!

I hope you enjoy one of God’s surprises for a newly wed couple in Ireland. A friend shared this with me and I loved it and would like to share it with you.  I am not Catholic, but I would imagine this is not the norm, but it’s awesome regardless 🙂  This priest has an amazing voice!!  I love the surprise he gave this couple on their wedding day too 🙂 Enjoy!
