I love my YouVersion app! I can pull my phone out anywhere I am and read the Word of God and connect with other believers all over the world. I have dear friends I stay in touch with on YouVersion and often through other social media platforms after meeting them on YouVersion. I read my daily Bible reading every night outloud to my son in the dark (I have my settings so it’s white text against a black background so I can read it in the dark well) to get him to sleep at night and get the Word of God into him at the same time 🙂
It’s called YouVersion because you can choose from many different versions of the Bible to read from and compare verses in many different versions. I never read the entire Bible let alone the entire Bible from January 1 -December 31 before until I started using the YouVersion app. Now I’m on my 4th time through the Bible (and will be finished in about 32 days if I stay on track). This year I’m reading the Bible through using the ESV version. You can highlight the passage you like, save it to bookmarks, create verse images from your highlighted passage and share it to Facebook or other social media and share the Word of God with others. You can add friends and keep track of what the other is reading and sharing and encourage each other when the other has finished a reading plan.
This week’s devotion is from one of my You Version reading plans. I thought you might glean as much encouragement from it as I did. Joseph is one of my favorite people in the Bible and this video devotional is about him and his family.
Do any of you stuggle with trying to get a real grasp on the fact that God will never forget you? I know I do sometimes. I always feel like I’m either not doing enough for Him or that I’ve let him down. Even worse, that He has more important things to do that listen to my concerns (even though I know know know that He is omniscient (all knowing) and omnipresent (always present) and always knowing and always present for each of us! I’m so thankful when the Lord places things like this devotional in my lap to remind his insecure daughter of how much He loves me and how much He knows about me and cares about me!
From “Joseph, Video Devotions from Your Time of Grace”, from YouVersion
“Only remember me, when it is well with you, and please do me the kindness to mention me to Pharaoh, and so get me out of this house. For I was indeed stolen out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the pit.” –Genesis 40:14-15 (ESV)
“Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.” –Genesis 40:23 (ESV)
