A coupon insert released the same day in three different newspapers can be a big difference! In this post, I will show you the difference in three different newspapers in the area I live (North East Ohio).
The newspapers are 1. The Akron Beacon Journal, 2. The Cleveland Plain Dealer, and 3. The Daily Record (Wooster, Ohio)
Just know that the Smart Source in one newspaper is very often different from the Smart Source in the next newspaper. If you live in an area where there is a high cost of living, you may get inserts that have higher value coupons than you may in areas where the cost of living is less.
The Akron Beacon Journal gives you the Smart Source coupon insert most Sundays. Once per month you may get the P&G insert as well (Proctor and Gamble). No Red Plum inserts.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer gives you the Smart Source coupon inserts most Sundays as well, and also no Red Plum coupon inserts. The coupons in this Smart Source are often at least halfway different than the ones in the Akron Beacon Journal’s Smart Source insert. In today’s insert, there were more pages in the Smart Source insert in the Plain Dealer than in the Beacon Journal and more different coupons (though more advertisements too). You may get the P&G inserts once monthly (or so) as well.
The (Wooster) Daily Record is my newspaper of choice, because you normally get the Smart Source every week along with the Red Plum insert and the monthly (or so) P&G inserts. So, you get more coupons in the Daily Record.
So here is the page-for-page comparison of the Smart Source Inserts in the three newspapers listed:
They start out pretty similar…

and my dog, Rudy, kept me company while doing this 🙂 :
So you can see there are quite a few differences in the Smart Source released on the very same day in three different newspapers! So do your investigative work and find out which newspapers work the best for you and buy the most of those, and if you’re like me, you’ll buy a lesser amount of the next to best paper and maybe one of the other one (for the ads that are also different in that paper than the others) 🙂
So pay attention and get the most coupons that will work for your family each week!
